Maharaja Bir Bikram University invites online applications from eligible candidates for admission in Doctorate programme. The important details of the admission process are listed below -

Course name: Doctor of Philosophy

Educational Qualification:

For Mathematics: A person who has successfully obtained Masters Degree in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Pure Mathematics of at least two-year (or 4-Semester) duration with at-least 55% marks in aggregate (for General candidates) or its equivalent grade B in the UGC 10 Points scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an UGC recognized Indian University is eligible to apply for Ph.D. programme in the Department of Mathematics. However, a relaxation of 5% marks from 55% may be allowed for SC/ST/ Differently abled candidates and also for those candidates, who have obtained their Masters Degree either in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Pure Mathematics prior to 19th September, 1991.

For English: A person who has successfully obtained Masters Degree in English of at least two-year (or 4- Semester) duration with at-least 55% marks in aggregate (for General candidates) or its equivalent grade B in the UGC 10 Points scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an UGC recognized Indian University is eligible to apply for Ph. D. programme in the Department of English. However, a relaxation of 5% marks from 55% may be allowed for SC/ST/ Differently-abled candidates and also for those candidates, who have obtained their Masters Degree in English prior to 19th September, 1991.

For Library and Information Science: A person who has successfully obtained Masters Degree in Library and Information Science (3+1+1 or 3+2 pattern) with at-least 55% marks in aggregate (for General candidates) or its equivalent grade B in the UGC 10 Points scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an UGC recognized Indian University is eligible to apply for Ph. D. programme in the Department of Library and Information Science. However, a relaxation of 5% marks from 55% may be allowed for SC/ST/ Differently-abled candidates and also for those candidates, who have obtained their Masters Degree in Library and Information Science prior to 19th September. 1991.

For Political Science: A person who has successfully obtained Masters Degree either in Political Science/Public Administration/International Relations of at least two-year (or 4-Semester) duration with at-least 55% marks in aggregate (for General candidates) or its equivalent grade B in the UGC 10 Points scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) from an UGC recognized Indian University is eligible to apply for Ph. D. programme in the Department of Political Science. However, a relaxation of 5% marks from 55% may be allowed for SC/ST/ Differently-abled candidates and also for those candidates, who have obtained their Masters Degree either in Political Science/Public Administration/International Relations prior to 19th September, 1991.
