CSIR National Institute of Oceanography invites applications for the following posts via direct recruitment:

Post Name: Project Associate-I

Essential Qualification:

  • MSc Marine Microbiology/ MSc Environmental Science and Technology.

  • M.Sc in Marine Biology/ Biological Oceanography/ Zoology/ Marine Science/ Biological Oceanography and Biodiversity.

  • M.Sc in Hydrochemistry/ Marine Chemistry/ Marine Science with specialization in Chemical Oceanography.

Desirable:

  • We are looking for a candidate who is familiar with plankton analysis, microbiology, and molecular biology. The candidate must be an excellent team worker who would be expected to perform laboratory as well as field research experiments, maintain accurate data, perform critical data analyses, prepare/make presentations etc. The specific assignments may include but would not be restricted to participation in ocean cruises and field sample collection.

  • Candidate having experience in marine biological sample collection of water column / sediment will be preferred.Selected candidates will have to carry out extensive fieldwork onboard research vessels and fishing boats for marine biological sample collection (especially plankton food web components) and analysis of water and sediment; maintain and manage the project database; preparation of reports and manuscripts.

  • The candidate having experience in the chemical analyses of seawater, sediment and biota will be preferred.Selected candidates will have to carry out extensive fieldwork onboard research vessels and fishing boats, perform the processing and analysis of water, sediments, and biota, maintain and manage the project database, and prepare reports.

 

Post Name: Project Associate-II

Essential Qualification: M.Sc in Marine Biology / Zoology with minimum 2 years research experience in the relevant field.

Desirable: Candidate having experience in marine biological sample collection of water column/ sediment will be preferred.The selected candidate will have to carry out extensive fieldwork onboard research vessels and fishing boats for marine biological sample collection (especially plankton food web components) and analysis of water and sediment; maintain and manage the project database; prepare reports and manuscripts.
