Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology invites applications for the following posts via direct recruitment:
Post Name : Scientist-DEssential Qualification : Masters degree in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Geophysics/ Oceanography/ Atmospheric Sciences/Meteorology or its equivalent with at least 60% marks from recognized University/Institute.
Essential Work Experience : 07 years experience in teaching (at graduate or post graduate level), research and development, survey, administration, planning, supervision or training etc. in the specified field.
Desirable :(i) Doctorate in the relevant branch of Science related to Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Meteorology or equivalent from recognized University.
(ii) Experience in policy making, planning or management etc. related to specified field.
Post Name : Scientist-C
Essential Qualification : Master’s degree in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Geophysics/ Oceanography/ Atmospheric Sciences/Meteorology or its equivalent with at least 60% marks from recognized University/Institute.
Essential Work Experience : 03 years experience in teaching (at graduate or post graduate level), research and development, survey, administration, planning, supervision or training etc. in the specified field.
Desirable :
(i) Doctorate in the relevant branch of Science related to Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Meteorology or equivalent from recognized University
(ii) Experience in policy making, planning or management etc. related to specified field.
Post Name : Scientist-B
Essential Qualification : Masters degree in Meteorology / Atmospheric Sciences / Physics /Chemistry/ Geophysics with Meteorology as one of the subject/ Statistics / Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / or equivalent subject with at least 60% marks from recognized University / Institute Or B.E./B.Tech. degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Electronics & Telecommunication/ Electrical & Electronics Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering from a recognized University / Institute with at least 60% marks.
Desirable:
(i) Doctorate in the relevant branch of Science related to Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Meteorology or equivalent from recognized University.
(ii) A minimum of 3 years experience of research in atmospheric sciences related to weather and climate (as evidenced by published papers).
(iii) Proven understanding of any of the research areas viz. understanding of the Asian monsoon and its variability, land surface processes and their impact on monsoon, climate variability and climate change, experience in dynamics and thermodynamics of convection and interaction between clouds and environment, Atmospheric measurements, Aerosols, Atmospheric Radar Technology, Air Quality and pollutants and experience in Numerical Weather Prediction models.
