Post Name: Associate Professor
Essential Qualification:
Postgraduate degree (with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade on a pointscale, wherever the grading system is followed) in interdisciplinary subjects such as Climate studies, Policy Studies, Environmental Science, Development Studies and related fields.
An excellent academic record, with a PhD. Degree in the concerned/relevant disciplines mentioned above.
A minimum of eight years of experience in teaching and/or research in an academic/ research position equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry with a minimum of seven publications in the peer-reviewed international or national UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 75 as per the criteria given in Appendix II, Table 2

Note that the work profile of the centre is highly interdisciplinary in nature, interconnecting issues of natural science and social sciences. The candidate will have the freedom of exploring the research and project opportunities in the interdisciplinary themes related to the environment, climate change, and sustainability issues. The candidate should be actively engaged in the teaching and research programme of the centre, particularly in areas of climate studies (including impact, adaptation, vulnerability, and risk aspects of climate change and climate extremes). The incumbent should be able to teach 2-3 courses per semester, support fieldwork (both urban and rural fieldwork), and should be able to supervise a master’s dissertation in the relevant areas. It is expected that the incumbent should have a strong orientation to delivering quality content in courses such as climate science/climate modelling and projections/climate extremes/vulnerability and impact assessment/Energy and climate change/Climate policy mitigation/global environmental governance.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing a high academic record, proven leadership qualities as well as relevant research/publications to their credit. The candidate must possess the ability to multitask, show a willingness to work in teams, and the capacity to write high-quality research proposals to secure national and international funding, all of which will be an asset.
