Post Name: Post-doctoral Research Fellow

Essential Qualification:

  1. PhD in Human Geography, Urban Studies, Regional Planning, Critical Data Studies, STS, Anthropology (or cognate fields).

  2. Publication of own research relevant to the project in international refereed journals.

  3. Knowledge of key issues in the digitalisation of paper documents onto spatial mapping platforms within local levels of planning and governance.

  4. Deep knowledge of the policies and working practices of state and parastatal organisations in directing regional urbanisation in the future

Essential Work Experience:

  1. Experience of using planning databases and spatial mapping platforms in own research

  2. Research experience in urban contexts relevant to the research project (especially in India, Kenya and/or Mexico)

  3. Knowledge and experience of working with government stakeholders, and/or doing research on governance at national or local levels.

  4. Experience of using qualitative research methods, including in-depth interviews with stakeholders, archival/document searches, ethnography, discourse analysis.

  5. Experience of developing and/or working with novel social sciences research methods (including information mapping and critical database studies)

  6. Experience of working in a team and a commitment to collaborative working

  7. Experience of and enthusiasm for collaborative and team-based working
