Essential Qualification:

Essential for Medical Candidates:-

(i) A recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 (Holders of educational qualifications included in Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions stipulated in Section 13 (3) of the said Act) and

(ii) A post graduate qualification eg MD (Doctor of Medicine) or MS (Master of Surgery) or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in the respective subject/allied discipline

(iii) For Dentistry: A Post Graduate qualification viz Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in the respective subject/allied discipline

Essential for Non-Medical Candidates:-

(i) A Postgraduate qualification ie Masters Degree in the concerned subject or allied discipline and

(ii) A Doctorate degree from a recognized University in the respective subject or allied discipline

Essential Work Experience:

Professor:-

(a) Four years teaching experience as Reader or Associate Professor in a recognized medical college in the concerned specialty OR

(b) Three years teaching experience as Associate Professor in the concerned specialty in a recognized medical college with minimum of four research publications in indexed or national Journals provided that these research publications are published or accepted for publications in the Journals by the National Associations or Societies of the respective specialties as the First Author and further provided that the requirement of 4 research publications for promotion to the post of Professor should be taken on cumulative basis with minimum of 2 research publications must be published during the tenure of the Associate Professor

Associate Professor:-

(a) Five years teaching experience as Lecturer or Assistant Professor in a recognized medical college in the concerned specialty

(b) Four years teaching experience as Assistant Professor in the concerned specialty in a recognized medical college with minimum of two research publications in indexed or national journals provided that these research publications are published or accepted for publications in the Journals by the National Associations or Societies of the respective specialties as the First Author and further provided that the requirement of two research publications for promotion to the post of Associate Professor should be taken on cumulative basis with minimum of 2 research publications must be published during the tenure of the Assistant Professor

Assistant Professor:-

(A) For Broad Specialties:

(a) Master of Medicine (MD) or Master of Surgery (MS) or Diplomate of National Board (DNB) equated to Master of Medicine (MD) or Master of Surgery (MS) in the concerned subject and

(b) At least three years teaching experience as Senior Resident or Tutor or Demonstrator or Registrar or Assistant Professor or Lecturer in the concerned Specialty in a recognized teaching institution after obtaining the Post graduate degree

(B) For Dentistry: Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) or equivalent in the respective subject or allied discipline and at least three years teaching experience as Senior Resident or Tutor or Demonstrator or Registrar or Assistant Professor or Lecturer in the concerned Specialty in a recognized teaching institution after acquiring the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS)

(C) For Non-medical Candidates: A post graduate qualification ie Masters degree and Doctorate degree in the concerned subject from a recognized University in the respective subject in reference of Anatomy Physiology and Biochemistry or as prescribed by the National Medical Commission in the Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations 2022 as amended from time to time and at least three years teaching experience as Senior Resident or Tutor or Demonstrator or Registrar or Assistant Professor or Lecturer in the concerned Specialty in a recognized teaching Institution after obtaining PhD
