Bihar Public Service Commission invites applications for the following post via direct recruitment:

Post Name: Boiler Inspector

Essential Qualification: 

(a) Possess one of the following qualifications, namely :-

(i) A Board of Trade certificate as a first Class Engineer,

(ii) Associate Membership of the Institute of Mechanical Engineer,

(iii) A degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised University;

(b) Have served apprenticeship of at least two years as a Mechanical Engineer or engine fitter in an engineering workshop of repute where steam engine and boilers are built or repaired:

Provided that in the case of a candidate possessing a degree in Engineering from a recognised University any time spent in practical training during the University Course any count towards the prescribed period of apprenticeship up to a maximum of one year;

(c) Have had after completion of his apprenticeship two years further experience as a practical testing engineer of the design construction, maintenance and testing of steam engines and boilers;

(d) Have knowledge of the various types of boilers used on land and of the purposes and functions of their component parts:

(e) Be able to determine accurately the working pressure of a boiler in accordance with the Indian Boiler Regulation;

(f) Have knowledge of the construction of, and materials used in the manufacture of boilers;

(g) Have fair knowledge of the strength of the materials used in the manufacture of boilers and of the methods of carrying out mechanical test;

(h) Have a knowledge of boiler defects and their causes and of remedies for corrosure and scale-forming feed water:

(i) He able to take dimensions of boilers and to prepare neat hand sketches and drawing to scale:

(j) Be able to repafe calculations for determining the strength of new and old boilers from his over measurement and the markers dimensions.

(k) Must be able to read and write Hindi in the Devnagri script.
