Indian Institute of Technology Madras invites applications for the following post via direct recruitment :

Post Name : Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical)

Essential Qualification :

(1) B.Tech and M.Tech/MS or M.Tech (5 years integrated) in Biotechnology or MSc in biotechnology/related biology fields.

(2) PhD in Biotechnology or Molecular Biology or Genetic Engineering or Genetics (PhD should be from an Institute of National importance or from an Institute with QS ranking within 300).

Essential Work Experience :

(1) PhD research experience in the area of Molecular Biology

(2) Experience in mammalian cell culturing, maintenance and handling, UV/Vis and fluorescent spectroscopy, histology, immunohistochemistry, fluorescent microscopy, molecular biology techniques including agarose gel electrophoresis, western blotting, flow cytometry, RT-PCR, and related techniques - A proven record of scientific publications (as first author) applying the above said methods in PhD/Post-doc research in reputable journals is mandatory.

(3) Demonstrated interest in conducting experimental work within a modern application-oriented research and development environment, coupled with a strong desire to translate personal ideas into innovative technical solutions.

(4) Possesses an independent working style, excellent teamwork abilities, and creative and analytical thinking skills.

(5) Familiarity with laboratory skills, scientific rigor and ethics.

Desirable :

(1) Practical experience in 3D culture of stem cells/mononuclear cells with biomaterials anda proficient knowledge of the methods of characterization of the 3D constructs.

(2) Experience in working with confocal microscopy.
