Assam University invites online application from eligible candidates for admission in Doctorate programme. The important details of the admission process are listed below -


Course name: Doctor of Philosophy


Essential Qualification:

(A). Candidate for Admission to the PhD programme shall have Masters degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Masters degree with at least 55% Marks in aggregate, or its equivalent grade or a equivalent degree from a foreign educational instituion accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized , by an established, recognised or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country empowered for assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.

(B). Candidates shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to PhD degree in an integrated programme in the university, if

(1) the candidates who have cleared an M.Phil. course work in the same subject with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade "B" from university as per AUS Ordinance on M.Phil and Phd degree in force.

(2) The candidate has already completed the course work in M.Phil. in the same subject as per AUS Ordinance on M.Phil. and PhD degrees in force with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in AUS grading scale and successfully completed the M.Phil. degree in the same subject.

Admission Details

Assam University invites applications from eligible candidates for admission in various programmes. The method of admission will be Course Admission. Applications are invited with reference to advertisement number AUK-201/29/2022-23. Quota/Reservation will be provided to the following categories: Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, PWBD Quota and Economically Weaker Section. The examination will be conducted through Offline mode at Regional level. After completion of all procedures, successful candidates will be granted admission to Diphu, Assam, India, 782462 and Silchar, Assam, India, 788003.

Eligible Candidates List has been Released for Entrance Test (RET) for PhD programme in Assam University for the Academic Session 2022-23 on 07-11-2022. Entrance Test will held on 10-11-2022.

Corrigendum Released For Cut-Off Marks

On the recommendation of the University Admission Committee and in continuation to this office notification of even no. dated 21.10.2022 on the guidelines for admission into Ph.D Programme 2022-23 the following modification has been made. The Departmental Research Committee may fix a cut off marks on the composite score as stated under Clause No. 15 of the guidelines for selection of the candidates and notify the same immediately. The other content of the guidelines including corrigendum dated 31.10.2022 remain unchanged. This has the approval of the competent authority.

Result Information Released For B.Ed Entrance Examination 2022

This is for information of all concerned that, the updated result/merit list of B.Ed Entrance Examination 2022, will be declared very soon. The candidates who have submitted the B.Ed online application form as "Appeared" (without UG/PG final result) and who have appeared in the B.Ed Entrance Examination 2022, which was held on 11 September 2020, such candidates should submit a copy of marksheet/grade card to their respective first preference college on or before 11th November 2022.
