National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences invites applications for the following post(s) via direct recruitment:

Post Name: Project Officer (Child Protection)

Essential Qualification:

  1. Masters degree in Social Work/ Psychology.

  2. At least 3 years experience (post to essential qualification) in directly working with children, with a minimum of 1 year working in state child protection systems and/or child care institutions.

  3. Strong understanding of the structure and workings of the child protection system, including knowledge of child laws applicable in the protection system, namely juvenile justice and child sexual abuse laws.

  4. Knowledge of protection risks and emotional and behavioral consequences of children in vulnerable circumstances.

  5. Training experience in child protection-related issues (such as with child protection functionaries).

  6. Knowledge of research methodology, including the ability to conceptualize research studies.

  7. Evidence of written work and documentation in the area of child mental health, and protection.

  8. Strong English oral and written skills, with experience in coordinating and communicating with government and other systems/agencies.

  9. Good working knowledge of oral Hindi and/or Kannada.

  10. Willingness to travel within the country.

Desirable Skills:

  1. PhD in Social Work/Psychology.

  2. Experience in providing psycho social interventions for vulnerable children in state child protection systems.

  3. Oral/ working knowledge of at least 1 (Indian) regional language.

  4. Experience and ability to develop social media/awareness materials.

  5. Published papers in the area of child protection and/or psycho social care.

Essential Qualification:

  1. Masters degree in Social Work/ Psychology/ Special Education.

  2. At least 3 years experience (post to essential qualification) in directly working with children, with a minimum of 1 year working in school settings.

  3. Strong knowledge of child and adolescent mental health disorders, including signs, symptoms and diagnostic criteria.

  4. Knowledge and skills in therapeutic methods used with children and adolescents, particularly in school counseling settings.

  5. Training experience in child mental health-related issues (with teachers /school counselors /special educators /parents).

  6. Knowledge of research methodology, including the ability to conceptualize research studies.

  7. Evidence of written work and documentation in the area of child mental health, education and protection.

  8. Strong English oral and written skills, with experience in coordinating and communicating with government and other systems agencies.

  9. Good working knowledge of oral Hindi and/or Kannada.

  10. Willingness to travel within the country.

Desirable Skills:

  1. PhD in Social Work/Psychology/ Special Education

  2. Experience working with children and teachers in government education systems.

  3. Experience in working with children with disability (including areas of remedial education and inclusive education).

  4. Oral/ working knowledge of at least 1 (Indian) regional language.

  5. Experience and ability to develop social media/awareness materials.

  6. Published papers in the area of child mental health/education/protection.

  2. At least 3 years experience (post to essential qualification) in directly working with children, with a minimum of 1 year working in clinical settings, such as hospitals/ departments of psychiatry/child guidance clinic.

  3. Strong knowledge of child and adolescent mental health disorders, including signs, symptoms and diagnostic criteria.

  4. Knowledge and skills in therapeutic methods used with children and adolescents.

  5. Training experience in child mental health-related issues (with counselors/ mental health professionals/parents).

  6. Knowledge of research methodology, including the ability to conceptualize research studies.
