National Institute of Urban Affairs invites applications for the following posts via direct recruitment:

Post Name: Urban Planner (GIS expertise)

Essential Qualification:

  • Masters degree in Urban Planning or other related fields, with an understanding of sustainable development, spatial planning, public policy, etc

  • Degree/ Diploma in Geographic Information System (GIS)/ Geo-informatics orequivalent from a recognized University /Institute

  • Detailed understanding of central, state and local government data-sharing laws and processes

  • Proficiency in the use of GIS and mapping software, including ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCADMap and open-source GIS tools is an advantage

  • Candidate should have knowledge of using Satellite Imagery, and be proficient inthe use of GIS datasets

  • Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with an ability towork in a multicultural environment

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure

Essential Work Experience: Minimum 5 and 8 years experience in similar kind of work as mentioned in Clause A

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with Central Govt/ State Govt/ National Urban Missions (SMART City, AMRUT, etc)/ Multilateral and bilateral organizations/ Local Bodies/ Resource centers/ NGOs/ Communities

  • Experience in spatial planning, data management and integration with Web-GIS-based applications, will be an added advantage

  • Experience of working on cadastral maps, land use layers, etc for planning purposeon GIS Platform

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English A good command over Marathi and Hindi is desirable
